Daikin has recently supplied 5 air-cooled screw inverter chillers from the TZ range to an important hospital in Belgium, providing both the facility with the cooling needed for both comfort and reliable medical equipment operation.

About the products and the project


The hospital decided to rely on Daikin’s experience and products, to make the cooling plant which will serve the facilities in the hospital as reliable and efficient as possible.

For this project the customer needed a solution ensuring absolute reliability and durability, high seasonal efficiency to meet both energy efficiency and environmental sustainability targets, and, equally important, ease of maintenance.

The units supplied to meet the above-mentioned needs were chillers from the TZ Series. A Series designed to combine the proven reliability of the Daikin screw compressor and the high energy efficiency – especially at part load – offered by the refrigerant cooled inverter designed by Daikin.

About the efficiency, Daikin managed to meet the requirements in the project thanks to a solution which takes advantage of the Inverter technology and ensures the best performance, regardless of the cooling demand of the building.

In fact, thanks to the inverter technology, the TZ chillers installed will be able to match the different loads requirements, in any circumstances. The Inverter will continuously modulate the speed of the compressor’s motor, ensuring excellent capacity control, providing outstanding part load efficiency values, and substantial energy savings.

When it comes to single screw compressor chillers Daikin has a history of leadership. In fact, this compressor technology has been chosen for projects all over the world for 20 years.

Daikin screw compressor, differently from a standard screw compressor, uses one main screw meshing with twin star rotors to produce volume matching compression cycle. Due to the main rotor, balanced in both radial and axial direction, the compressor bearing has extremely high reliability. Therefore, its life span can be longer than other screw compressors. The single screw compressor, then, has only three moving parts. As a result of that, it reduces the possibility of failure and keeps operation costs low.

Low noise, then, was as crucial as energy efficiency, as the hospital needs to ensure the best possible comfort to allow patients to easily recover. For this reason, the lower is the noise produced by the HVAC system, the better for the occupants. In this case, the TZ Series, besides offering low noise options, will allow facility managers to further reduce noise thresholds by setting units noise level to a minimum during specific time bands.
