PROJECT

Daikin supplied six air-cooled screw inverter chillers from the MZ range for an important project involving several hotels on Saudi Arabia’s west coast - an area dedicated to tourism-oriented facilities. The project was about supplying a solution to provide cooling to several hotels in an area developed to be a tourism hub.

CHALLENGE & SOLUTIONS

The area accommodates facilities including hotels (14), over-water villages, and pools. For the hotels, the cooling necessary for comfort, domestic water supply, and pools will be provided through a primary and secondary network distributing chilled water across the area.

This tourism hub has been designed to be environmentally sustainable, using electricity entirely generated from renewable sources (mainly solar), and producing the lowest amount of CO2 emissions. All this had an impact also on the choice of chillers to install in the project, as the units had to be highly energy efficient to limit both energy consumption and CO2 emissions.

Besides that, the units had also to be able to stand operations in high ambient temperature conditions and corrosiveness due to proximity to the sea.

That is the scenario that led the consultant to the Daikin MZ Series as a choice because it was successfully installed in hundreds of projects in the Middle East.
